You select a manager in Add/Edit Human Managers, click Create quick-start email, and nothing happens. No error, no dialog, no file.
OOTP will not regenerate a quick-start file if one already exists for that manager. The button silently does nothing rather than overwriting.
The fix
- Open your league folder and go to
import_export. - Delete the existing
quickstart_N.txtfor that manager (N is the manager number). - In OOTP, navigate away from the manager screen and come back — the screen needs to refresh.
- Select the manager and click Create quick-start email again.
You should now get a fresh file.
Step 3 matters. Deleting the file without leaving and re-entering the screen often still appears to do nothing, because OOTP has cached the screen state.
Where the file goes
Quick-start files are written to your league's import_export folder as
quickstart_1.txt, quickstart_2.txt, and so on. The number corresponds to
the manager slot, not the team.
Open the file, copy the code inside, and send that to your manager. They paste it into Online League Quick Start on the OOTP start screen.
Before you send it
The quick-start code bakes in your current FTP settings — host, username, and FTP Mode. If you later change any of those, previously issued codes stop working.
So get your settings right first:
- FTP Mode: "Passive; Standard FTP" on League File Download and Team File Transfer. Managers cannot do TLS — see the FTP settings guide.
- League File URL set to a real URL, not OOTP's
yourdomain.complaceholder.
Generating codes before those are correct means reissuing all of them later.
A faster path for repeat work
If you are onboarding several managers, deleting files one at a time gets
tedious. Clear out the stale quickstart_*.txt files in one pass, then
generate codes for everyone in a single sitting.
SimHosts can email the codes to your managers directly from the member manager, so you are not copying text files into individual emails.
